Two former Georgia Tech football players, A-back Broderick Snoddy and safety Demond Smith, have agreed to undrafted free-agent contracts with the Green Bay Packers, according to reports.

Snoddy had limited playing opportunities as a senior, as he broke his hand in the fourth game of the season and played in only eight games all season. In the A-back rotation, he finished with 20 carries, averaging 9.1 yards per carry. That followed a junior season that was likewise shortened by a broken-leg injury.

Nevertheless, Snoddy’s speed likely made an impression on the Packers. He is the school record holder in the 60-meter dash and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds at Tech’s pro day in March.

Smith was a three-year starter and missed only one game in his entire Tech career, developing into a consistent tackler who was effective against the run. His chances figured to be damaged when he suffered an injury to his quadriceps running the 40 at Tech’s pro day. Evidently, it did not deter Green Bay. The Packers did not draft a running back or a safety with their seven selections.

Snoddy is one of only a handful of A-backs in coach Paul Johnson’s tenure to sign an NFL contract. Orwin Smith was also signed by the Packers to their practice squad in 2013 and was released in the following April. Two others played A-back but did not make their mark there.

Anthony Allen, who played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2011 and 2012, played A-back in the 2009 season but switched to B-back for the 2010 season. Synjyn Days, who was briefly with Dallas last year, started out at quarterback, moved to A-back for two seasons before also finishing at B-back.

Former Tech star safety Morgan Burnett completed his sixth season with the Packers.
