A rape charge against former Georgia Tech star Adam Gotsis has been dropped by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Fulton County district attorney Paul Howard made the announcement Wednesday.

Gotsis, who played for the Yellow Jackets 2012-2015 and was voted a team captain as a senior, was charged and arrested in March after a woman alleged to Atlanta police that he had raped her in 2013.

Gotsis turned himself in the same day that the warrant was secured and, through his attorney, asserted his innocence. Gotsis has been playing for the Denver Broncos since being drafted in the second round in April 2016.

“After a careful and thorough investigation, The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to proceed with the case against Mr. Adam Gotsis,” the statement from Howard read. “My office understands the sensitivity and significance of these investigations, but the evidence presented does not warrant any further action in this case.”
