Georgia Tech A-back Charles Perkins (offense), linebacker Quayshawn Nealy (defense) and B-back Matt Connors (special teams) were named the team’s players of the week for their roles in Tech’s 38-21 win over Tulane Saturday.

Perkins was honored by coaches despite receiving only five touches in the game, four carries for 33 yards and a four-yard reception. Coach Paul Johnson said that the number of defenders that Perkins blocked to the ground was in the double digits as the Yellow Jackets repeatedly ran for big gains on the perimeter against the Green Wave.

Nealy was credited with four tackles, including a tackle for loss, and made one of the biggest plays of the game, a 10-yard interception return for a touchdown that tied the score at 14 in the second quarter.

Connors made another significant play, blocking Peter Picerelli’s punt in the fourth quarter. Beau Hankins picked up the loose ball and returned it to the Tulane 1-yard line. Connors plays on multiple special-teams units.
