Georgia Tech A-back Broderick Snoddy received more playing time against North Carolina as coaches sought to utilize his speed. Snoddy responded with five carries for 39 yards and one catch for 33 yards.

“He’s got to be more consistent in the other stuff, but I think he earned himself more playing time,” coach Paul Johnson said Tuesday at his weekly news conference.

Johnson mentioned two other players who could see more time Saturday against Pittsburgh, cornerback Lynn Griffin and linebacker Anthony Harrell. The latter has mostly been playing special teams since returning earlier this season from surgery to repair an ACL tear. Linebacker play, in Johnson’s words, has been “spotty, at best.”

Johnson said that Griffin, who missed the first two games of the season for violating the school’s student-athlete code of conduct, has not been consistent enough to merit more time. Griffin had been a projected starter coming out of spring practice.

“I think as he gets consistent, he’ll earn more playing time, and we’re probably to the point where he needs a chance to see what he can do,” Johnson said.
