Georgia State football coach Trent Miles said on Thursday that he believes his team has the talent and scheme to compete for the Sun Belt Conference title.
The Panthers, which held their first spring practice on Thursday, went 6-7 last season and played in their first bowl game.
The team returns nine starters on defense and seven on offense.
“We’ve got the numbers and the athletes that have the size, the length and have grown up and have an understanding of what they are being asked to do,” Miles said.
Miles said he didn’t have to spend any time talking to the players about the way they should practice.
“We are light years ahead (of a year ago),” Miles said.
