What to know: He chose Georgia Tech over Ohio State, Arizona State, Miami, Mississippi, Wake Forest and more.
Gantt on why he chose Tech: "It's funny. If you told me a couple years ago that I would go to Georgia Tech, I would have looked at you like you were crazy. But just looking at the school and everything they have to offer down there, and I have a great connection with all the coaches there. I actually felt like I was wanted there. And education-wise, it's one of the best schools you could ever go to. … I can't really explain it, I just love it down there so much. … I honestly wanted to go far at first and then I thought, this is where I want to be."
Gantt on his relationships with his future teammates: "I have a (former high school) teammate on the team, David Curry, and I hung out with him a lot and I hung out with other guys on the team. We had a really good time."
Gantt on when he decided to become a Yellow Jacket: "My parents knew how much I loved Tech after I watched the Orange Bowl last year. They knew how much I liked Tech. They said, 'Can you think of anything that would pull you away from Tech? Just take football out of it. If there was anything that could pull you away from Tech, what would it be?' and I sat there and I said, 'I really don't know.'"
Gantt on sticking with Tech through their 2015 losing season: "Honestly, (Tech's 3-9 record) really didn't affect me that much because I was talking to coach Johnson, this was on my official. And this was his second losing season out of all the years he's been at Tech. … Two out of 15 years, that's not terrible. They had one bad year, and most of those games that they lost they had five turnovers or things like that. It's not like we completely couldn't compete with anyone. It was just mental things where we gave some games away. It really didn't affect me that much."
Gantt on what he's looking forward to most in college: "I'm excited to compete. Just to come in and show what I can do. Maybe earn some, if not a lot of playing time, earn some type of playing time. One, it's a good thing if I get playing time, and two, it's a good thing if I get redshirted because then I have another year of eligibility. Regardless it's a win-win for me."
