Georgia Tech junior guard Tyaunna Marshall was named first-team All-ACC this week and also named to the league’s all-defensive team.

She became the first Yellow Jacket to make first-team All-ACC since 2003 and just the fourth all-time. In the regular season, Marshall averaged 17.9 points per game (second in the league), 8.3 rebounds (sixth) and 2.5 steals (fourth). She was the only player in the conference to rank in the top 10 in all three categories.

Her 1,498 career points are the second most ever by a Tech junior.

Marshall became the fifth different Tech player to make the all-defensive team and the first since Alex Montgomery in 2011.

The school is also campaigning for Marshall to make All-America. She would become Tech’s first women’s basketball player to earn the honor. Four players have earned honorable mention All-America distinction.

Also, freshman Brittany Jackson was named to the all-freshman team. She is the ninth Jacket player to earn that distinction. It's the third year in a row Tech has placed a freshman on the team. She averaged 10.3 points per game and was twice named the league's freshman of the week.

Tech begins ACC tournament play Thursday at 6 p.m. with a first-round game against Clemson.
