The spring-practice goal for Georgia Tech quarterback Matthew Jordan was to improve to the point that coaches would feel comfortable putting him in a game. With three more practices remaining, including the spring game on Friday, he may not quite make it.
“He’s tough as nails,” quarterbacks and B-backs coach Bryan Cook said. “We’ve got to get him to execute at a higher level.”
Cook said it’s not unexpected for Jordan, a redshirt freshman, to struggle with facets of the passing game and option reads. Further, Jordan missed practice time with an unspecified injury. Cook said he expects that he’ll get considerable playing time in the spring game on Friday.
“So this week and heck, there’s four weeks of preseason,” Cook said. “We’re not to September 1 yet.”
It is hardly Tech’s hope that Jordan would be placed into a competitive situation this season, as he’ll likely be the third-string quarterback behind Justin Thomas and Tim Byerly.
