Former Georgia Tech safety Jamal Golden just wanted to get his foot in the door. Golden's opportunity is just about that much.

After going undrafted this weekend, Golden was also passed over for an undrafted free-agent deal, but did receive an invitation to the Falcons’ rookie mini-camp this weekend. The invitation is essentially a tryout to earn a spot on the roster as an undrafted free agent.

With versatility, special-teams expertise and a deep well of playing experience, Golden figured to have a solid opportunity at an undrafted free-agent deal, if not a late-round selection. As sometimes happens, Golden endured a disappointing draft weekend.

A tweet posted from Golden's account Sunday gave an insight into his frame of mind: "Never been so motivated in my life."

The Falcons’ mini-camp will begin Thursday.
