Kennesaw State held its first scrimmage of the its fall camp on Saturday.
The Owls went 6-5 last season and will open hosting East Tennessee State at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Sept. 3.
Here are highlights of the scrimmage, provided by the university’s athletics communications office:
Senior quarterback Trey White hit sophomore wide receiver Justin Sumpter 26 yards to help set up an early score. White later added a 1-yard touchdown run. White also hit running back T.J. Reed for a 19-yard pass. White said he worked on improving his accuracy in the offseason.
Sophomore quarterback Chandler Burks hit sophomore wide receiver Jordan Walker for 24 yards.
Running back Chaston Bennett notched a 63-yard touchdown run for the longest play of the day. He took a pitch on third and short and outran the defense.
Sophomore B-back Jake McKenzie had a 2-yard touchdown run. He is likely the starting B-back.
Freshman quarterback Tommy Bryant had a 23-yard run, followed by a 5-yard touchdown run.
Safety Taylor Henkle and defensive end Allen Johnson recovered fumbles. The turnovers were forced by sophomore linebacker Anthony Gore Jr. and freshman linebacker Bronson Rechsteiner.
