With four defensive backs in Georgia Tech's 2017 singing class, competition will be fierce, b ut Tech's Gentry Bonds is up to the challenge.

Knowing the 3-star Bonds for four years at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Bonds’ football coach Will Kriesky saw Bonds develop in high school to become a leader and knows Bonds can do it again as a Yellow Jacket.
“As long as he gets in the weight room and does exactly what he supposed to, which we know he will, he will get bigger and stronger and him being physical will help them stand apart from the other defensive backs,” Kriesky said.

Kriesky saw the once tall and lanky Bonds grow physically before his senior season when the 6-foot-1 cornerback put on 20 pounds of muscle.

“It’s not like bad weight — it’s dedication to the weight room,” Kriesky said. “He was one of our leaders on the field last year and he did a great job. He always wanted to make sure he was doing what’s right, to please the coaches and do what’s best for the team.”
Entering Tech in January for early enrollment, Bonds weighed 192 pounds, according to 247 Sports.
