Former Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green, projected to be a top-10 pick in this month’s NFL draft, will speak with Falcons beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter on an occasional basis leading to the draft and share his views on the process of becoming an NFL player.
It's getting close to the draft now.
I just sent some of the pictures to my mom [Dora] of the suits I [purchased]. We are just trying to figure out which one she wants me to wear. I was invited, and we have made that decision to go to New York. It's going to be a great time. It's going to be pretty busy these last couple of weeks prior to the draft.
I got a couple of suits. I got one from an Arizona company and one from out of New York. She's going to help me pick. I got a navy blue one with all kinds of wavy colors and white pinstripes. I've got a gray one, too. I think I'm going to wear the gray one, but I don't know yet.
Just reflecting on all of this, I think one of my hobbies has helped me tremendously. In kindergarten I joined the juggling team, and it just started from there. We used to perform at halftime of basketball games. I rode the little cycle and juggled everything. I juggled pins, balls, sticks, scarfs and rings. ... pretty much everything. I think it has helped to get me where I am today with my hand-to-eye coordination. That was a good experience for me.
While I'm finishing up this process, I'm trying to keep track of UGA's spring football practice. I think people need to look out for Aaron Murray. He had a great [redshirt] freshman season. He's got to be one of the top returning quarterbacks in the nation. Some of the receivers like Rantavious Wooten, Tavarres King and Marlon Brown are going to really step up and have great seasons, too.
I guess in my down time, I will try to keep my eye on the NBA playoffs. I know the Pacers clinched the eighth spot in the East, but I'm a big [Los Angeles] Lakers fan. They are going to go all the way.
If the Lakers are going to pull through, they need Andrew Bynum to play every game. If he dominates like he has at times, they'll have a great chance to win it all.
