Georgia Tech target Marcus Watson, a four-star guard from Buford High, provided good news for the Yellow Jackets Tuesday evening. Watson, perhaps the highest priority prospect for Tech coaches, included the Jackets in his final four, along with Oregon, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

Watson is scheduled to make his official visit to Tech this weekend. He also has visits scheduled with the other four schools. He had also made a visit to Boston College.

Watson, rated the No. 68 player in the country and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia, (247 Sports composite), is an athletic, 6-foot-6 guard with scoring ability. Coach Josh Pastner recently said that he needs to bring in wing players or guards who can score, and Watson would fill that role.

Securing a commitment from Watson would represent a significant win for Pastner and his staff, who through their first two recruiting cycles have signed only one in-state player, sophomore forward Evan Cole. He could be a centerpiece of what Pastner has said needs to be a great class.

Tech has three scholarships available for the 2019 freshman class.
