During their official visits over the weekend, Stockbridge, Ga. defensive end Kelton Dawson and Alpharetta, Ga. safety Avery Showell committed to Georgia Tech’s signing class of 2017.

Showell, a 3-star senior from Cartersville High School, announced his commitment on Twitter writing in part, "I have committed to further my education and football career at Georgia Tech."

At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Showell received his offer from Tech on Jan. 18 and had offers from eight schools other than Tech including Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Mercer, Minnesota, Rutgers, Tulane and West Virginia, according to 247 Sports.

Dawson, a 3-star senior from Stockbridge, Ga. announced his visit on Twitter with a video of himself, his mother, his father and Tech coach Paul Johnson with the caption, "I have thought long and hard about his day since I was a kid and the next four years I will be a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket."

In the video Dawson posted, he said to Johnson, “I want to be a part of the family.”

In response, Johnson said, “Yeah, if you want to be, that’s why we recruited you.”

Dawson, 6 foot-3, 242 pounds, had offers from 17 colleges including Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, Marshall and Missouri, according to 247 Sports.
