Georgia Tech freshman defensive end Jordan Woods has left the team. Woods made the decision this past week as the Yellow Jackets completed spring practice.

Woods was among the more highly regarded members of Tech’s 18-member 2016 signing class. He was the only member of the class to be accorded a four-star ranking from Rivals. He turned down Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and Georgia, among others, to accept Tech’s scholarship. However, Woods suffered a shoulder injury during Tech’s preseason camp and redshirted.

He is the first member of the 2016 signing class to leave the team. He is the 10th scholarship player to leave the team since the end of last season. Eight elected to transfer, one as a graduate.

Tech completed spring practice with its spring game Friday night at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Rivals reported the news Friday.
