Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson provided a look at the leaderboard for the defensive line on Monday, and the standings weren’t terribly surprising.

Johnson said that, if the season were to start now, the starters would be KeShun Freeman and Rod Rook-Chungong at defensive end and Patrick Gamble and Adam Gotsis at the two tackle spots. It’s the same foursome that was listed with the first-string defense coming out of spring practice.

Freeman started the final 12 games of last season and was named a freshman All-American. Rook-Chungong started six games last season and earned praise last week from defensive coordinator Ted Roof for his steady play.

Gamble played both tackle and end last season, but may be needed more on the interior. The return of tackle Jabari Hunt-Days from academic ineligibility has been much anticipated, but he remains with the second string.

“I think Jabari’s quick, although he did some things that’ll get you killed against better people,” Johnson said Saturday after the team’s first scrimmage of the preseason.
