What was said following Georgia Tech’s 38-35 win over Duke on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium:
"I was disappointed with the way we played in the second half. I think that we found a way to make enough plays to win. The quarterback made some big plays in the second half. A lot of the same problems we had all year — can't get off the field defensively and we had back-to-back turnovers off the kickoff return and on the very first play of the second half. Hopefully we learned a very valuable lesson." — Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson.
-
"What didn't they take advantage of?" — Johnson on Duke's offense.
-
"It was a great effort play by A.J. (Gray) to save the score. You'd like to see the guy not run down the middle of the field untouched, but it was a great effort play by A.J. Gray." — Johnson on Gray causing a fumble.
-
"I thought (Justin Thomas) played very well today. He made plays. We had other guys make plays. Clinton Lynch made plays. Ricky Jeune made a couple plays. Brad Stewart made a big play on the first series. Marcus Marshall had a long run. A.J. Gray had a play on defense. Terrell Lewis got a fourth down stop. We had some guys make plays. We've just got to be consistent." — Johnson.
-
"The offense has been pretty good the past four games." — Johnson
-
"I have no idea what's the problem (on defense). I'll find out tomorrow." — Johnson
-
"The offense has been pretty good the past four games." — Johnson
-
"Their corners like to look in the backfield. We knew we could beat them deep when the opportunity was there." — Jeune
-
"It's the will and want to get lined up. At times we weren't communicating with each other." — safety Corey Griffin
-
"You have to look at Justin Thomas and say he might have had his finest hour. He played like a senior, that's what I dol him after the ball game." — Duke coach David Cutcliffe
-
"It's probably the best game he's ever played. He came up and showed out. He's a lot faster than he looked on film. Hats off to him and hats off to their offensive line." — Duke linebacker Ben Humphreys
-
"I said we have to go score. No matter what the situation was, we had to go control the ball and get some numbers on the board. That's what we did." — Thomas before one of Tech's last drives
-
"It's going to be fun to go back and watch. I'm out there trying to have fun, embracing every moment I can and enjoying it overall." — Thomas
