A brief look at Georgia Tech’s victory against Alabama A&M

How the game was won: Newcomers on the front line, Demarco Cox and Charles Mitchell, led the way for the Yellow Jackets (2-0) in a victory against the Bulldogs (0-2) at McCamish Pavilion on Tuesday night that was never in doubt. Cox scored 13 on 6-for-8 shooting and Mitchell had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Notable: Tech has never lost to Alabama A&M, owning a 5-0 record against the Bulldogs, and is 2-0 against AAMU under Brian Gregory. The teams last met in Dec. 2011, a 65-54 Tech triumph at the Gwinnett Arena. Tech is 15-1 against Southwestern Athletic Conference teams with the only loss a big one, a first-round NCAA Tournament setback in 1993.

Number: 7. Transfer Josh Heath had seven points, seven assists and no turnovers as he started at point guard for the Jackets. … The Bulldogs went seven minutes in the first half (15:49 to 8:49 on the clock) with only one made 3-pointer in that time span as Tech pulled away.
