Georgia Tech has scheduled non-conference home games for the 2021 and 2022 season to complete the schedules for both seasons.

Tech will play Northern Illinois on Sept. 25, 2021 and Western Carolina on Sept. 10, 2022. Western Carolina is the alma mater of both coach Geoff Collins and former coach Paul Johnson.

The game against Northern Illinois will be Tech’s first against the MAC school and just the second against any MAC school, following Bowling Green in 2018. It will be on the fourth weekend of the season.

In 2021, the Yellow Jackets also will play Kennesaw State on Sept. 11 and then be at Notre Dame on Nov. 20 and home against Georgia on Nov. 27.

The Jackets have played Western Carolina five times, most recently in 2011. They played them twice during Collins’ playing career with the Catamounts, in 1989 and 1992.

That game, notably, will be on short rest after Tech starts its season against Clemson on Labor Day night (Sept. 5) in a Chick-fil-A Kickoff game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Tech’s other non-conference games that season are against Ole Miss (at home) on Sept. 17, at Central Florida on Sept. 24 and at Georgia on Nov. 26.

The game against Central Florida was to be played in 2017,  but was canceled because of Hurricane Irma. Tech and UCF play at Bobby Dodd Stadium in 2020.

The Northern Illinois and Western Carolina games complete Tech’s scheduling through the 2022 season.
