Georgia State signed 6-foot-8 forward Jalen Brown on Thursday.

Brown averaged 13 points and 8.1 rebounds in one season at South Suburban College in Illinois. He hit 44.5 percent of his shots, including 35.8 percent of his 3-pointers. He also blocked 72 shots.

Coach Ron Hunter was looking for a “stretch” big man who can shoot the 3-pointer to improve the depth of his front court, which recently lost LaRon Smith, who elected to transfer.

Georgia State will be Brown’s third college.

He played one year at Columbus State where he averaged 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The Panthers, which won the Sun Belt’s regular-season title last year, have five players in this year’s recruiting class.
