Georgia quarterback Hutson Mason said the soreness in his right arm he experienced this week is not chronic or the result of an injury. It is simply fatigued from overuse.

Mason told reporters he practiced but did not throw at all on Monday. He resumed throwing on Tuesday and said “it felt great.”

“Certain guys’ arms react differently,” Mason said. “Some guys can throw all day. Faton (Bauta) can. For me, I take a little bit more reps than most guys. I’m probably throwing 100-something balls a day. Five straight days of throwing is a lot.”

Former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray also had some shut-down days during preseason practices. The No. 1 quarterback generally takes more reps than the others on a daily basis. Mason, a redshirt senior, was a backup the previous four seasons.

Mason said he felt “more zip” on his passes on Tuesday after the day off. All the quarterbacks rest their arms on Fridays, he said.
