DeVondre Seymour won’t be following in his father’s footsteps after all.

Seymour, the adopted son of former UGA and NFL standout Richard Seymour, has decided to give up football just 17 days after reporting to Georgia as a transfer offensive lineman.

“DeVondre Seymour has decided to discontinue his football playing career,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said of the 6-foot-6, 310-pound sophomore from Suwanee. “I met with DeVondre and he feels strongly that football is not what he wants to do. We do wish him well in whatever career he chooses to pursue.”

Seymour is a graduate of North Gwinnett High School and Hinds (Miss.) Community College. He was one of four offensive linemen in the Bulldogs’ class of 2015. His departure leaves Georgia with 13 linemen overall.
