In the wake of UAB’s decision to shut down its football program as of Dec. 2, former Blazers players are actively searching for another team to call their own. That search ended for UAB leading tackler Jake Ganus on Friday morning.

“I’m so blessed and honored to be able to finish my college football career at The University of Georgia!! #DawgsOnTop,” Ganus wrote to his 1,993 Twitter followers.

His Twitter account’s avatar is a photo of himself standing in the center of the field while on a visit to Sanford Stadium.

Ganus recorded 70 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss. six sacks and a 56-yard touchdown off a fumble recovery in his final season as a Blazer. He’ll help the Bulldogs fill in the holes at linebacker left by Amarlo Herrera’s and Ramik Wilson’s departures.

Ganus, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker, will enroll at UGA in January.
