In a final recruiting push, Georgia Tech commits will flood Tech’s campus on Friday and Saturday for official visits.
This weekend, Tech commits defensive backs Tre Swilling and Dameon Williams, linebackers Bruce Jordan-Swilling and TD Roof, running back Jerry Howard, dual-threat quarterback Tobias Oliver and defensive end Cortez Alston will visit their future home in Atlanta, Ga.
Most of the seven recruits have already visited Tech’s campus, but wanted to spend a weekend together before signing day on Feb. 1.
Alston, a 3-star senior from Atlanta’s Westminster School, had his first official visit to Tech’s campus the weekend of Dec. 9. His December visit helped cement his decision to commit to the Yellow Jackets on Dec. 21 after having time with Tech’s coaches on the campus.
Alston doesn’t plan to visit any other schools.
“I really got a good vibe from my visit and that made me want to choose it,” Alston said. “Just the way they treated my family and I saw how well they were treating their athletes and their students and they’ll just help me get (an education). After college, I’ll be set for my life.”
The 6-foot-3, 250 pound defensive end is looking forward to spending the weekend alongside members of his signing class on their official visits.
Alston also hopes to potentially influence some uncommitted seniors on their official visits this weekend.
Three uncommitted seniors will visit Tech’s campus beside the seven commits over the weekend including Vero Beach, Fla. wide receiver Michael Smith, Gallatin, Tenn. running back Jordan Mason and Kahuku, Hawaii defensive end Aliki Vimahi. Central Florida commit and 3-star defensive end Antwan Owens is also on his official visit this weekend.
