Duke forward Sean Obi will use his final year of eligibility at Maryland. The graduate transfer had considered Georgia Tech among his possible landing spots. Maryland made the announcement Thursday.

Obi, a 6-foot-9, 255-pound forward, could have provided experience and rebounding force for the Yellow Jackets in the frontcourt either alongside or behind center Ben Lammers.

Tech continues to look for possibilities for its four open scholarship spots for the 2017 signing class. Coach Josh Pastner and his staff was to receive South Forsyth High forward Evan Cole on an unofficial visit Thursday. Cole had been signed with UNC-Wilmington, but received his release after coach Kevin Keatts left the school for N.C. State.
