Junior offensive lineman John Theus was unable to participate in Georgia’s two-hour, full-pads practice on Wednesday. Instead he spent the afternoon riding an exercise bike on the sideline with strength and conditioning coaches Joe Tereshinski and John Thomas in close proximity with stop watches.

“He sprained his ankle,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said. “We expect him to practice on Monday.”

That’s good news as Theus, a two-year starter at right tackle, is coming off his first career start at left tackle against Clemson this past Saturday. He played well for an offense that rolled up 459 yards and allowed just one sack against the Tigers’ hard-charging defensive front.
