Clearly, Georgia intends to keep Mike Bobo around as long as it possibly can.
The Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator recently received yet another contract extension. Just a year after signing a three-year contract with UGA, Bobo had another year added. The agreement was actually made back on Jan. 27, but the amendment to Bobo’s contract was not turned over to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution until Tuesday in response to an open records request.
No salary increase was included in Bobo’s contract amendment. He signed a three-year deal that went into effect on Jan. 1, 2013, that calls for him to receive $575,000 salary. Bobo will now be signed through the 2016 football season, including any January bowl games.
Obviously, the Bulldogs have been very pleased with Bobo's work. Georgia's offense finished 17th in the nation in yardage per game (484.2) and scoring (36.7 ppg) this past season despite being inundated with injuries to skill players.
“It’s what Mark (Richt) wanted to do,” UGA Athletic Director Greg McGarity said of the Bulldogs’ head football coach. “Now Mike and (defensive coordinator) Jeremy Pruitt are on the same page as far as the duration of their contracts. That was important to Mark and we agreed to do that.”
The open records request also included a memo of understanding on new defensive line coach Tracy Rocker. It reveals that will receive an additional $50,000 in “supplemental compensation” to his base salary, which already has been reported as $300,000 a year.
