Former Georgia Tech cornerback Chris Milton provided another example of what running a blazing time in the 40-yard dash can do. Milton was a solid player for the Yellow Jackets but not a standout. However, his 4.35-second time in the 40 at a regional combine likely caused NFL teams to look at him with new eyes.
Milton reached an agreement with Indianapolis following the draft Saturday to join the team as an undrafted free agent. Milton may be in a good spot. Cornerback was identified as a position of need for Indianapolis, but the Colts did not draft any players at that position with their eight picks.
Milton had been planning to be with family and friends in his hometown of Folkston in south Georgia. He hails from the same town as Champ Bailey, the Georgia and NFL great who helped train Milton for pro day and the NFL.
Besides his speed, Milton brings value to the Colts with his special-teams play. He was exceptional coming off the edge, on punts and placement kicks, ending his career with seven blocks.
