Cheeks, O’Reilly not on Tech roster

March 18, 2015

Georgia Tech’s football team is lighter by two scholarship players, defensive end Chaz Cheeks and offensive lineman Thomas O’Reilly. Both had one season of eligibility remaining, but were not on the roster released Wednesday before the start of spring practice Monday.

At Tech’s Pro Day last Friday, coach Paul Johnson made reference to two players not returning and said he would address it on the first day of spring practice. Cheeks and O’Reilly were both backups not expected to play significantly in 2015. Cheeks played 12 games in three seasons with one tackle. O’Reilly, who transferred to Tech from Auburn after redshirting there in 2011, played 12 games in two seasons.
