Center fielder Thomas out indefinitely with mono

March 29, 2013

Georgia Tech center fielder Brandon Thomas is out indefinitely with a case of mononucleosis. It’s a considerable loss for the No. 16 Yellow Jackets, as Thomas is leading the ACC in batting average at .441, which was 10th in the country through last weekend’s games. Thomas is also among the ACC’s top 10 in slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs, hits, doubles and total bases.

Tech begins a three-game ACC series Friday night at Russ Chandler Stadium against Wake Forest.

With Thomas out on Tuesday against the Citadel, coach Danny Hall moved Kyle Wren from left to center field and put Daniel Spingola in at left field. Spingola responded with a walk-off home run in the 5-4 Jackets’ win.
