Georgia Tech forward Robert Carter was named ACC rookie of the week after averaging 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in the Yellow Jackets’ two games last week, a win over Maryland and a loss to N.C. State.

Against Maryland, Carter registered his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds along with two assists and two blocked shots.

For the season, Carter is second among ACC freshmen in rebounding (6.8 per game) and tied for fifth in scoring (10.0) per game. It’s Carter’s first ACC rookie of the week honor. Forward Marcus Georges-Hunt was honored twice earlier in the season.

Duke’s Ryan Kelly was named ACC player of the week after scoring 36 points in the Blue Devils’ 79-76 win over Miami Sunday. It was his first game back after a 13-game absence due to a right foot injury.
