On Virginia’s defensive strength

“Teams that have been able to get into Marcus (Georges-Hunt) a little bit, we’ve either been able to get Adam (Smith) free or get the ball inside. They were able to take all three away for the most part. And Adam played good. But we only had one of those three tonight. We need all three of those going.”

On Virginia’s second-half run

“Second half, when Marcus went down, put us in a tough spot. I think it was a two- or four-point game at that time. We weren’t able to respond offensively enough when they got it going. That’s what they’ve been able to do. They’re so good defensively, they’re consistent defensively, that all of a sudden, they go on a stretch where they make some shots, then a four-, five-point game is a 13-, 15-point game. That’s what happened tonight. We didn’t play well enough to beat a team of that caliber.”

On a possible NIT bid

“I think numbers-wise and however you want to look at it, I would expect a bid into the NIT, when you look at what we’ve done in the league, what we’ve done overall.”
