On Georgia Tech’s second day in full pads, injuries knocked out a handful of key players, if temporarily.

Nose tackles Shawn Green and Pat Gamble both missed practice Tuesday as did left guard Trey Braun, all with unspecified injuries, coach Paul Johnson said. He termed the injuries “day-to-day stuff. It’s not anything major.”

Green and Braun are expected starters. Gamble will likely be a backup. With numbers already low on the defensive line, the unit shifted to a three-man front rather than its usual four-man look, Johnson said.

Tuesday’s practice included 11-on-11 work stationing the offense on its 1-yard line.

On the whole, Johnson was not enthused with the work put in by the team, saying “it dragged a little bit today, honestly.” The team will have its first double session Wednesday, with a full-pads practice in the morning followed by shells in the afternoon.

“Gotta push through it,” Johnson said.
