ATHENS — Georgia freshman tailback Sony Michel, who returned to action last week after missing four games with a shoulder injury, now is slowed by an injured ankle.

“We’re not sure about Sony right now,” coach Mark Richt said Tuesday when asked about his team’s health for Saturday’s game against Auburn. “He’s getting there.”

Richt said Michel has been receiving treatment on an ankle but did not provide further details about the injury. “We’re hoping” he may be able to practice Wednesday, Richt said.

In his first action since suffering a broken shoulder blade in the Sept. 27 game against Tennessee, Michel had 84 rushing yards on 17 carries in last week’s victory at Kentucky. He is Georgia’s third leading rusher this season with 307 yards on 39 carries.
