Lorenzo Carter motivated by losses to Georgia Tech

Lorenzo Carter has payback on the mind.

The senior linebacker passed on the NFL draft after last season for a multitude of reasons, including his record against Georgia Tech.

Carter is 1-2 against the Yellow Jackets, with a chance to pull even this Saturday in Atlanta.

“That was one of the things I thought about personally that I needed to do,” Carter said. “I didn’t want to leave with a losing record to Tech. Right now I have a losing record to Tech. The seniors, we do. We just wanted to come back and just play our brand of football and finish out strong.”

Expect the Bulldogs to be prepared for the always mind-numbing triple option, according to Carter.

“It’s tough,” he said. “Triple option, you’ve got to stay focused. … I think we’re going to do a good job because this week we’ve put emphasis on it. Our coaches emphasized being disciplined and having eye-discipline all the time no matter who we play.”

The Georgia-Georgia Tech rivalry dates to 1893. Saturday’s game will be the 112th between the teams. The series is the 13th oldest and 19th most-played in major-college football. The past four games in the series have been decided by seven points or fewer. The teams have traded wins on each other's field in the last four games. Paul Johnson is 3-6 versus Georgia as Tech’s coach. He has never defeated the Bulldogs at home. Kirby Smart is in his second year as Georgia's head coach. His Bulldogs fell to
