Kelvin Cain has been reinstated to the University of Miami football team, coach Al Golden said Monday.
Cain, a junior defensive end, left the team a day before the Hurricanes’ game against Florida State on Oct. 20 for undisclosed reasons. He returned to practice Monday and is working with the scout team.
“Hopefully he’s got his mind right and is back and ready to do what we need him to do,” defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio said.
Cain is unlikely to travel with the Hurricanes when they play Virginia on Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.
Before leaving the team, Cain had played in seven games and has 11 tackles and one sack.
Perryman update: Denzel Perryman's availability for Saturday's game is unknown. Coach Al Golden said Perryman was scheduled to see a doctor for his ailing right ankle on Monday. The sophomore linebacker played only a few snaps in UM's 30-12 victory against Virginia Tech last Thursday. Golden said Perryman re-injured himself during Miami's bye week.
Noteworthy: UM said the Hurricanes' game against South Florida on Nov. 17 will kick off at either noon, 3 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.
