Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick spoke with the Boston Sports Journal about Super Bowl 51 against the Falcons, and specifically, Belichick remembered that one score: 28-3.
“No,” Belichick said to the Boston Sports Journal. “I didn’t think 28-3 was indicative of the game. The score was the score, but, I don’t know, they didn’t convert many third downs, we gave them a touchdown on a pick six, we fumbled going in, we couldn’t pick up a third-and-1, we gave up a third-and-10 for a touchdown…”
Belichick also remembered the mistakes his team made in that first half and what could’ve been different.
“If we had just done a few things, maybe it’s 10-6 at the half and then we’re not talking about 28-3,” said Belichick to the Boston Sports Journal. “But it was 21-3, 28-3 because it was, but I didn’t feel like the game was out of control or out of hand. The score was, but I didn’t feel like we were not competitive.”
Belichick did highlight what he thought was the Patriots problem during the game.
“I mean, we moved the ball against Atlanta, so I wouldn’t say that was a problem,” Belichick said to Boston Sports Journal. “The problem was we missed some plays that would have resulted in a lot more points, but we didn’t (make them). I’d say they had problems stopping us.”
Super Bowl 51 is something the Falcons can not seem to live down, but the Falcons get regular-season redemption on Sunday, Oct. 22 in New England.
