The Cincinnati Bengals fired offensive coordinator Ken Zampese on Friday, the team announced on Friday afternoon.

The Bengals (0-2) have averaged 178.5 passing yards and 79.5 rushing yards in their first two games of the season— both home games— but have failed to score a touchdown.

The Bengals finished third in the AFC North last season with a 6-9-1 record.

Zampese served as Bengals offensive coordinator since 2016 and was the quarterbacks coach from 2003-2015.

Rapoport cited the Bengals “offensive futility, AJ Green’s frustration (and) Andy Dalton’s regression” as reasons the team decided to move on from Zampese on Friday.

Rapoport also reported a potential replacement for Zampese is Bengals quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor, who is highly respected among the team.

The Bengals lost their first game of the season to the Baltimore Ravens 20-0 and Week 2 game to the Houston Texans 13-9 on Thursday night.
