This one missed.

The Hawks lost several regular-season games last year on buzzer-beaters and it nearly happened to them Sunday night in a Las Vegas Summer League game. The Warriors’ LaDontae Henton missed a 3-pointer with .9 seconds left – but not before it circled the rim – and the Hawks won a 71-70 decision at the Thomas and Mack Center.

The Hawks evened their record at 1-1 and will play the final scheduled game Monday at 6 p.m. against the NBA Development League Select team. The tournament will then go to a seeded tournament format.

Lamar Patterson made one of two free throws with 11 seconds remaining to give the Hawks the lead before the late-game dramatics.

Glenn Robinson III and Stephen Holt each had 13 points to pace the Hawks. Terran Petteway added nine points in the win.

“We need that type of experience, especially in summer league,” Holt said of the last-second miss. “Wherever we end up next year, playing those close game and trying to get a defensive stop, a rebound, make your free throws, you name it. We were able to win. It was an in-and-out shot and we’ll take it.”

James Michael McAdoo led the Warriors with a game-high 17 points.
