No such thing as close, Hawks offense is either there or it’s not

Mike Budenholzer reiterated that the team’s offense is not where it needs to be.

The Hawks coach spoke before Wednesday’s home game against the 76ers as his 14-12 team has lost three straight and is 7-11 in the past 18 games.

“When you look at some of the things we are getting (offensively), some of the opportunities we are getting, it makes me less concerned and I have more faith we’ll take advantage of those opportunities and take advantage of what we are getting,” Budenholzer said of the number of good shots the Hawks are getting that have not fallen. “Right now we are not. But I also think we can be even better. We can get more good looks. We can be more aggressive, all those things. That is a little bit concerning that we are not clicking and hitting as high a cylinder with as many guys that we have back.”

He was then asked about the statements of several Hawks players that the team is close to a breakthrough.

“I just think of us as not being where we need to be,” Budenholzer said. “Until we are there, I guess we are not close in my eyes.”

In a follow-up question, Budenholzer was asked ‘You are either there or you are not there, basically?’

“Yeah,” he responded.
