Dennis Schroder said he will play in Game 3 against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series Friday night after being listed as questionable with a left ankle sprain. The backup point guard took part in the majority of Hawks’ shootaround Friday morning.

“I twisted my ankle after the pass when I landed,” Schroder told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution during pregame availability. “It was pretty bad I thought. They said the recovery was good. I will play tonight.”

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer labeled Schroder as a game-time decision.

Schroder suffered the ankle sprain in the closing seconds of Game 2. He did not practice on Thursday before the Hawks departed for Boston.

Schroder was moving around well during the open portion of shootaround.

“He did most of shootaround so he is still questionable,” Budenholzer said earlier in the day. “He’s making progress and we’ll make a decision at game time.”

Budenholzer said Schroder’s ankle did not have any swelling after the plane ride to Boston.

Schroder said he has sprained an ankle before and it’s always been his left one.

The Hawks listed Tiago Splitter (hip surgery) and Edy Tavares as their inactives.
