Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce said small forward Taurean Prince won’t play in Friday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Pierce said Prince reported some soreness in his foot, and the coach not want to put him on minute restrictions this late in the season.

“Just something lingering, and the best thing to do is to shut it down for a little bit, that way he’s fine,” Pierce said. “He’ll be fine on Sunday, just try to get ahead of it.”

Prince is shooting 44 percent from the field, and 39 percent from behind the arc. He is averaging 13.4 points per game.

Justin Anderson will take Prince’s place in the starting five.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to start Justin, which I’ve been trying to find more minutes for him,” Pierce said.
