What they said after the Hawks’ 91-88 loss to the Kings Thursday:

"I'm proud of the fight to get back in the game. It's tough when you are on the road and you go down 17. I think there were stretches where they had more energy than us. They beat us to some of the 50-50 balls. They beat us on the boards. They kind of outworked us at different points in the game. Then, obviously, to dig yourself out a 17-point hole there are points where you are probably outworking them and getting more 50-50 balls. Credit to Sacramento. They were better for more of the 48 (minutes) than we were. To put yourself in such a position we just didn't have quite enough time or energy to get back over the hump." – Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer's opening statement

"There were a couple different looks, Kyle (Korver) and Al (Horford) on one side of the court. We went to Paul (Millsap). I think (Willie) Cauley-Stein guarded him pretty well. I think it was just good defense. If we didn't get the look on the other side we wanted Paul to make a play, make a move. Cauley-Stein guarded him well." – Budenholzer on Hawks' turnover with 13 seconds left and trailing by two points

"I think that group caught a rhythm – as much defensively as offensively. I kind of rode that and stuck with them. A little bit of a feel. I thought that group was really good." – Budenholzer on playing without a point guard during comeback

"He's fine. I thought that group dug ourselves out of that pretty big deficit of 17 points. Kind of rode that group. I thought that gave us our best chance." – Budenholzer on not play Jeff Teague the final 19 minutes

"The play broke up. I was supposed to get it, catch it, and drive to the basket. I hesitated a little bit and I lost the ball on my footing. I don't know. It was a funky play." – Paul Millsap on his late turnover

"Just play harder. Simple as that. Picked up our intensity. Got more aggressive." – Millsap on climbing out of 17-point hole

"Disappointing but hopeful. We know what we can do if we play a full game. That's all we've got to do, play the whole 48 minutes." – Millsap on loss

"I think tonight at times we were playing really well and then at other times we were a little careless with the ball and that turned into opportunities for them on the other end. They fed off that momentum." – Al Horford on falling behind by 17 points

"We just kept grinding. We kept taking it possession by possession. There is a lot of fight in this team. … We thought we had a good chance to finish the game. We just couldn't." – Horford on comeback

"It was just going with the flow of the game. When you are down that big, you have to do whatever you can to get the ball up the court as fast as you can, get into your offense and try to score the ball as quickly as possible. We were just getting stops and running." – Tim Hardaway Jr. on comeback
