It wasn’t a good sign for the Hawks when Dwight Howard got his first rebound late in the second quarter and his first points early in the fourth quarter.
Not a good sign at all.
The Hawks were pummeled by the Jazz in a game when little went right for any player. The final result was a 95-68 Hawks loss to the Jazz Friday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The Jazz controlled much of the game but put it away with a 20-3 second-quarter run to take a 16-point lead, 48-32. The Hawks would get only as close as nine points early in the fourth quarter before the Jazz piled on and led by as many as 32 points.
The Hawks scored just 11 points in the decisive second quarter on 4 of 21 shooting.
The Hawks (10-6) have lost four of five games. Dennis Schroder led the Hawks with 16 points in which he scored 12 of the Hawks’ first 17 points. Paul Millsap added 11 points. Howard finished with four points and seven rebounds. Fellow starters Kent Bazemore and Kyle Korver had just three points each.
The Jazz (9-8) were led by Gordon Hayward with a game-high 24 points. George Hill finished with 23 points. The Jazz won their second straight after a four-game slide.
The Hawks continue their five-game road trip on Sunday against the Lakers.
