The Hawks have agreed to a one-year, veteran-minimum contract with Jarrett Jack, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Jack, who played at Georgia Tech, most recently was with the Nets before a torn ACL ended his campaign in January of last season. The Nets waived the 6-foot-3 point guard and his $6.3 million contract last month making him an unrestricted free agent.

News of the signing was first reported by Yahoo. Moments later Jack took to social media and posted the following on Twitter: “So Atlanta hawks fans wasssssuuuppp.”

Jack, 32, averaged 12.8 points, 7.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 32.1 minutes in 32 games last season before he was injured. He is expected to be a veteran presence in the locker room with a strong demeanor behind incumbent starter Dennis Schroder.

After the Hawks traded Jeff Teague, Schroder was the only point guard on the roster. The Hawks signed Malcolm Delaney, who has spent all five of his professional seasons overseas, to a two-year, $1.4 million contract earlier this month.

Jack’s rehabilitation is said to be going “very well.” The Hawks are expected to be patient in Jack’s return and will give him the necessary time to return to 100 percent.

Jack is a 12-year veteran. He has played for the Trail Blazers, Pacers, Raptors, Hornets, Warriors, Cavs and Nets. He has career averages of 11.1 points, 4.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 803 career games.

Jack spent three seasons at Georgia Tech and was a key member of the Yellow Jackets runner-up finish in the 2004 NCAA Championship. In 101 career games, he averaged 12.5 points, 5.4 assists and 4.5 rebounds.

Jack was selected by the in the first round (No. 22 overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Nuggets but had his rights traded to the Trail Blazers on draft night.

Jack returned to Georgia Tech to get his degree in business management in 2014.

The deal will give the Hawks 16 players under contract.
