Drew decision still pending

There has been no decision on the fate of Hawks coach Larry Drew, less than a week after the season-ending playoff loss. A final determination may not be made until next week or perhaps later as the sides continue to step away from the recently completed season.

General manager Danny Ferry gave no timetable for a decision on Drew, in the final year of his contract, during his end-of-season news conference Saturday. Ferry said that the organization would “take some time, some distance, give some space from the season and the playoffs and the emotion of that” before discussing the future of Drew and making other personnel decisions. That process continues.

Etc.: Ferry finished ninth in NBA Executive of the Year voting, released by the league Thursday. He received one first-place and one second-place vote for a total of eight points. The Nuggets' Masai Ujiri won the award with 59 points, including eight first-place votes. The Clippers' Gary Sacks (28 points) finished second, and the Rockets' Daryl Morey and the Knicks' Glen Grunwald (25 points) tied for third. The voting was done by a panel of team basketball executives throughout the league. … The Hawks will change flagship stations to 92.9 the Game beginning next season. The rights previously had been held by 680 the Fan. An official announcement of the new partnership could come next week.
