Dream center Elizabeth Williams has been rewarded for her strong first season in Atlanta, as she was named to the 2016 USA select team on Monday.

Williams is now part of a USA select squad that is made up of young USA national team members as well as players who will look to make the Olympic team in the future. The 11-member team will train alongside the women’s national team in Los Angeles on July 23-24. The two teams will play an exhibition game the following day at USC’s Galen Center.

“This is a really good group of young and talented athlete,” USA national team head coach Geno Auriemma. “Having them train against our USA national team will not only help us prepare for Rio, but it will also give us a chance to evaluate them for future USA basketball teams.”

Williams came to Atlanta on Feb. 3 via a trade with the Connecticut Sun and has made major strides in only her second season in the WNBA. She averages 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per contests and ranks second in the league with 2.6 blocks per contest. She has registered two double-doubles through 20 games.

Williams will see a familiar face in the July 25 scrimmage. Dream veteran Angel McCoughtry is a member of the 2016 national team that will compete in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
