What they said after the Hawks’ 117-109 double overtime loss to Bucks Saturday:
"Anytime a game goes two overtimes there are opportunities for both teams. Both teams made a lot of plays going down the stretch. In the second overtime, they got a little separation, a couple baskets, and we weren't able to score. Our execution can be better in some situations, including at the end of game. Our guys fought. A lot of effort. Both teams had a lot of guys play well. It's a tough loss. We just have to bounce back and keep working." – Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer's opening statement
"The first one he made a 15-17 footer with Al (Horford) contesting him. It's a credit to him to make that shot. The defense is not a problem. After that, I think Dennis (Schroder) trying to create some pressure and some activity, I think he got in the bad and finished in the paint. I don't remember the third. I think the first one you can live with. I think Dennis' aggressiveness and Dennis' activity more often than not helps us but in that particular case it might have … he obviously got the basket on us." – Budenholzer on Michael Carter-Williams' six straight points in double overtime
"I thought that was big down the stretch. A couple times we got stops but couldn't come up with the board. You give a team multiple possessions, multiple opportunities at the end of a game, it can be really difficult. The stop is not complete until you get the board." – Budenholzer on Bucks' second-chance points advantage
"It was the wrist. Obviously, Dennis was playing really well tonight. We are fortunate to have those two guys. They cover each other well. It was definitely partly the wrist and also Dennis was having a very good game." – Budenholzer on Jeff Teague wrist injury
"I'll be OK. I kind of just popped it. I did it against the Orlando Magic the first time, if you remember. Then I did it again. I don't know (if it pops out). It does something and the initial pain is pretty bad." – Jeff Teague on wrist injury
"We have a nice homestand here and this is not the way we pictured it going. We are really in a hole right now." – Al Horford on loss
"At the end of the day, for us, the turnovers and too many little mistakes. Two people going for a rebound and the ball gets fumbled out of bounds. Little things like that just kill the momentum." – Horford on what went wrong
"Coach basically said they made more plays down the stretch than we did. Between us, honestly, we didn't say much here. This is a hard loss for us, second in a row for us here at home. It's tough." – Horford on message following loss
"The biggest thing for us is we can't make those constant mistakes that we've been making. The turnovers. Those are a big factor. We just have to finish the defense a little better." – Horford on what needs to be done to break out of slide
"He made three hell of a plays. I was on him, put pressure on him. He read it well. Went to the basket and nobody blocked the shot so he made three good plays. Then he took the jump shot, made it too. I give credit to him. I've got to defend better. I've got to do a better job." – Dennis Schroder on defense against Carter-Williams in double overtime
"What coach says every time, defense is first. Get stops on defense and we can run on offense. We have to do a better job for 48 minutes. We have to do everything as a team, defensively and offensively. If we do that, we'll be great. We've got to figure that out." – Schroder on Hawks' defensive issues the last two games
"I was just aggressive and tried to get to the basket, find my teammates and just be aggressive overall." – Schroder on his 25-point game
"A little bit more so tonight. We played hard out there. It wasn't good enough. Tip your hat to them. They played a good game. It just wasn't good enough tonight." – Paul Millsap on frustration
"Just shows the type of luck we are having right now. He's knocking down shots, contested shots, tough jump shots. To win the game, he's got to make those shots and he did." – Millsap on Carter-Williams
"That's tough. That's tough when you miss that many 3's. Maybe we can be a little more aggressive and attack the basket more but if we've got an open look we are going to let it fly." – Millsap on team shooting 9 of 41 from 3-point range
"No." – Millsap on whether the team is worried the season is getting away from them
