Center Alex Len is set to miss at least another week of playing time with a right hip flexor strain, which he sustained in the Hawks’ loss in Oklahoma City on Jan. 24.

Len has progressed to light running and spot shooting, per the team, and he’ll be re-assessed in 7-10 days. A few games before this injury, which has caused him to miss the past three games in a row, Len also missed four consecutive games because of low back pain, so he’s been consistently banged up in January, playing in eight of their 15 games this month.

His absence, in addition to that of center Bruno Fernando (left calf strain) has left the Hawks short-handed with a size disadvantage, though they’ve gone 5-4 in their past nine games.

The absolute soonest Len could return, given the timetable provided by the team, is Feb. 7 when the Hawks play in Boston, but it’s likely it’ll take him a little longer to return to action. After that game in Boston, the Hawks have three games in four days against the Knicks, Magic and Cavaliers, before some off-time for the All-Star break.
