CINCINNATI — Braves slugger Justin Upton will turn 27 on the team's off day Monday in New York, and recently joined a select group when he homered on Aug. 10 for the 500th RBI and 1,000th hit of his career.

He became just the fifth active player to accumulate 1,000 hits and 500 RBIs before his 27th birthday, joining Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols, Adrian Beltre and Alex Rodriguez.

Upton had five homers and 20 RBIs in a 13-game hitting streak that was snapped Saturday, and his 23 RBIs this month is a career best, topping the 22 he had in July 2011 for the Diamondbacks.
